Background[]

Trolbella is an original character from the Land of Stories series. She appears first in The Wishing Spell, ch 11. She is the daughter of the Troll King and lives in the Troll & Goblin Territory.

Appearance[]

"She had a round face with a small snout, and her hair was worn in pigtails just below tiny horns."[1]

She is first described as sitting by herself and looking bored and lonely. Conner captures her eye as he and Alex are lead into the territory as captives. She visits his cell and tells him how she hates living in the Troll & Goblin territory because everyone is mean, and she doesn't like troll boys either. She describes herself as a "hopeless romantic". [2]

In The Enchantress Returns, she has become queen and dresses accordingly.

"An enourmous headdress in the shape of two horns sat on her head with strings of teeth between them (the species of which no one could tell). A round ruffled collar Queen Elizabeth I of England would have been envious of was around her neck. She wore a long russet lacy dress, and on her large feet were golden slippers."[3]

Though her cavernous kingdom is flooded by Ezmia, she remains positive and builds a floating city on stilts in the water, renaming her kingdom "The great Troblin Lake".[4]

Personality[]

She is said to be nicer than most trolls and goblins, having been extremely bored under the rule of her father kidnapping slaves, once saying to Connor(Butterboy) that"they don't know how to treat a lady". After becoming queen, she civilizes their lives and makes them behave, look after themselves, and also make the people they capture dance fore her. Her dream was to live on water( which was granted thanks to Ezmia). She loves Connor or Butterboy, as she calls him to his horror, to the point of obsession and thinking every other girl, even his sister, Alex,as a threat and is jealous of them. She is very blunt and imitating. She also seems to be completely oblivious to the fact Connor and Peter and Gator, don't return her feelings and goes on and on to Connor about how there love is "too eternal" and their future wedding( which never happened) and once even proposes to him, to Connor's obvious disgust.Connor is very uncomfortable around her, due to the fact she has an obsessive crush on him and always tries to be around him. She once liked Peter, until she started to dislike his childless ways, and she ditches him to his face with the Lost Boys watching, acting as if he should be upset but in truth he is only confused. That showed she values personality over physical looks and doesn't stand for disrespect. Also, she is said to be slightly vain, having called herself a very important queen during a play "Trollbella" that she put together and believing everyone should know her, even if they don't know anything about the fairy-tale world and believing herself extremely attractive and comparing herself to Cinderella. Eventually she falls in love with the Tin Woodsman who is what she's been lookin for all along," a needy man".

Relationships[]

Conner Bailey[]

She instantly has a crush on Conner, whom she nicknames "Butterboy". She takes an immediate dislike to Alex, seeing her as her rival for Conner's affections. She helps the twins escape in exchange for a kiss from Conner.

In The Enchantress Returns, Trobella appears again, now Queen of the Troblins; her new people consisting of both the Trolls & Goblins previously living in her territory. She has made them wash regularily, be less rude / mean, and forces them to dance with her prisoners. The "Troblins" seem rather unhappy with this situation.[5]

When she sees the twins again, she immediately assumes Conner has come to marry her, and keeps referring to him as her "future Butterking" throughout the book. After she is saved, she tells Conner she will wait for him.[6]

In A Grimm Warning, Conner returns, and Trolbella confesses that she has moved on and has fallen in love with a troll called Gator (who also does not seem to reciprocate her feelings). To help Conner "get over his loss", she pledges her army to him to help fight against the Grande Armée.[7] Before they join their forces, Trollbella makes the troblins swear never to enslave people again.[8]

In Beyond the Kingdoms, she attends Queen Red Riding Hood and Froggy's (almost) wedding and uses the opportunity to tell Conner she still loves him.[9]

The Tin Woodman[]

In Worlds Collide, Trollbella helps The Tin Woodman defeat The Queen of Hearts by hiding in his body. The Tin Woodman realises he has a heart, and they fall in love with each other. He decides to stay back in the land of stories with Trollbella at the end of the book.
